JOB DETAILS:
Position Title: Manager Drilling
Department: Technical
- JOB OBJECTIVE:
Implementation/Delivery of the business targets in GHPL’s exploration & development portfolio and new ventures in Drilling discipline
- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Manage and co-ordinate daily drilling & work over operations with different operators all over Pakistan (especially North, South and fold belt areas)-
- Review and monitor daily drilling activities going with different JV Partners blocks.
- Ensure drilling of the wells within approved time and AFEs
- Perform Risk analysis and prepare mitigation plan to ensure smooth/efficient drilling operations.
- Review/verify all drilling & work over programs, risk assessments and associated documentation. Review and secure approval of drilling contracts for procurement of Drilling equipment, tools and drilling rig allied services in a timely manner
- Review and approval of AFE for all Drilling/workover operations in a timely manner
- Participate in Technical Workshops and TCM/OCMs and highlight/discuss all drilling related technical, operational & financial matters with operators.
- Participate and provide input on planning, designing of wells and execution of drilling projects.
- “Drill on Paper Exercise” as and when required & liaise with relevant stakeholders for approval purposes
- Provide full support /participation for drilling optimization by utilizing new drilling practices and technologies that can improve well quality and reduce well time and cost.
- Perform/review comparative performance analysis of operators w.r.t. drilling practices and coordinate with them on the areas for improvement.
- Contribute to studies conducted with different JVPs focusing on delivering business objectives by optimizing well design, enhancing productivity and improving well life cycle integrity.
- Ensure compliance with government guidelines during operations
- Co-ordinate with the operator on the major incidents reporting, root cause analysis & incorporate lessons learned for future optimization.
- Strong emphasis on the execution of safe and efficient drilling/workover operations in accordance with local procedures, guidelines and corporate standards.
- Basic Subsurface understanding, Economics and Offshore drilling experience will be considered as an advantage.
- Act as a catalyst for bringing CAPEX savings from drilling operations (Contracts, AFEs, operational excellence, etc.)
- HSE compliance to ensure safe operations
- Maintain inventory of all the approved contracts and AFEs

- QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 16 years of Education with Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum/ Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
Minimum Experience:
- 8 years of experience with 7 years in diverse drilling experience including horizontal drilling execution preferably with an E&P operated company.
- COMPETENCIES:
- Sound Technical background
- Hands on Experience in industry Drilling applications like EDM for Well Design/Planning, Optimization, Costing, etc.
- Excellent communication & presentation skills
- Sound understanding of E&P business including PCA
- Cross discipline integration with other disciplines like reservoir engineering, production, geology, etc.
- Ability to deliver under tight timelines
